CHATEAU GAZIN

At 26 hectares one of Pomerol's larger properties, Gazin dates back to 1772 and is a single parcel on the upper part of the legendary Pomerol plateau. They share a border with Pétrus and have in the past sold part of their property to that venerable estate.

Gazin was once the property of the Knights of the Templars, and current owners, the Bailliencourt family, have their own rich history tracing back to 1214 and an association with the then King of France, Philippe-Auguste. The Bailliencourts have been in residence at Gazin itself since 1946.

Vine composition is 90% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Cabernet Franc, and the winemaking facilities were upgraded in 1996.
